From the Pastor
In recent months I have been reminded of the magnitude of God’s power and glory. As I study God’s Word He has shown me that He alone is God and He is the only one who deserves my praise and adoration. Verses like Isaiah 6:3, which states: “the whole earth is full of His glory,” remind me that there is no corner of the earth where the glory of God does not reach.
In our society we admire individuals who have achieved success. We love our celebrities. We admire them, we want to know about them, and in some cases are obsessed with them. I like sports and movies just as much as the next guy but it bothers me that we are so obsessed with the famous people that participate in these things. I have to ask these questions: Do we have the same admiration for God? Are we as obsessed with knowing about Him and His plan for are lives as we are the latest celebrity Gossip?
The truth is, we should be more in awe of God than any human being. He alone is God and He is the only one who has the ability to give life and take life. Nothing on this earth happens without His knowing. Even when a human being takes the life of another, we know it happened because God has allowed it to happen. The event did not take him by surprise. He doesn’t cause bad things to happen, but He does allow human beings to make their own choices and those choices are sometimes bad ones. To put this another way, God is in control of His creation. That knowledge alone should cause us to stand in awe of Holy God! Stop for a few minutes today and praise God just for being God. Agree with Him that there is none other like Him the universe and thank Him for giving you the gift of Life.
No matter what you are facing, depend on God’s strength to sustain you today, tomorrow, and forever.
